Aditi Singh, Ph.D. student

I’m a fourth year graduate student in Dr. Guy Nir’s lab in the Department of Biochemistry and Molecular Biology at UTMB. I received my Bachelor of Pharmacy from Birla Institute of Technology and Science (BITS), Pilani in India. As part of my bachelor’s dissertation, I conducted research in Mechanobiology Institute, National University of Singapore (NUS) under the guidance of Prof. Mike Sheetz in augmenting cancer cell apoptosis upon low frequency ultrasound treatment with microtubule depolymerization. I further continued this research on mechanistic aspects of ER and mitochondria in response to ultrasound treatment in his lab, after joining graduate school at UTMB, Galveston. Prior to UTMB, I was also a research assistant and intern under great supervisors in Indian Institute of Science (IISc), Bangalore.
Besides science, I enjoy reading non-fiction, painting, singing and exploring unique art galleries in downtown Galveston. Having the beach nearby as nature’s escape is an added advantage!
