Hello! My name is Rogan Kannan. I am a medical student at the John Sealy School of Medicine, Class of 2029. I graduated from the University of Texas at Austin in 2025 with a B.S. in Biology and a minor in Latin.
I am interested in researching the complex interactions of genome folding to better understand gene expression. My project in the Nir Lab involves analyzing the structure and topology of the Salmonella genome, with the goal of utilizing machine learning to map and predict these complex interactions. Outside of school, I am interested in astronomy and astrophotography, fishing, and video game development.
