Vanessa Giselle Delgado, Research Assistant

As an aspiring doctor, I graduated UHCL with a Bachelors of Science in Biological Sciences,  Pre-Health/Physiology Specialization and a Minor in Chemistry. I’ve always had a passion for science and the way that the human body works which has reflected in my interest of genes and gene expression in our cells.

Throughout my college career I had exposure to many different lab courses including molecular genetics, in which we studied fruit fly populations to further understand genetic expression. I also had the opportunity of doing an organic chemistry independent research study. The objective of this research was to find alternate ways to synthesize nitrogen heterocycles, which are found in many pharmaceutical drugs today. My goal is to learn and gain as much research experience as I can to prepare me for medical school in the near future.

When I’m not studying or working, I enjoy mountain biking with my husband, serving at our church together, loving up on our fur baby, and spending time with my family.
